Te Kura o Waiutuutu Ilam School caters for year 0-6 children, aged from 5 to 11 years old. It is one of New Zealand’s most culturally diverse primary schools. Students from around 60 different national backgrounds attend Ilam, providing a unique and rich environment.

Welcome to Ilam School

The staff at Ilam have a long history and successful experience of supporting the international students who attend the school. Students are welcomed to the school in a warm and caring manner. The school has experienced teachers in all classrooms, as well as a skilled Language Support department which provides English language lessons and assistance to international children and their families. The children learn English both in and out of the classroom, with many extra curricula activities available. Ilam School has a unique partnership with the University of Canterbury, which is located on our northern boundary. Staff and students from the university contribute to class and individual programmes, introducing exciting new experiences for our children.
