If you're passing through Little River on the Banks Peninsula and looking for a delicious breakfast or lunch, look no further than Little River Café.
The next time you're passing through Little River and looking a delicious breakfast or lunch, look no further than Little River Café. Every single item, including the breads, sauces, pastries and salads are made from scratch and have been for the last sixteen years!
The date scone has been on the menu for twelve years running and the cheesecake brownie is another big seller. The smoked salmon on a pretzel roll with capers and cream cheese, and the chicken bacon mushroom filo are well worth your time, and be sure to check out the savoury scones (we see you rosemary feta), and other tasty treats like the raw caramel slice or carrot cake served with yoghurt.
Over the years this café institution hasn’t wavered from their mission to provide diners with great food, but they have added a wide range of keto, gluten-free and vegan meals to ensure there’s something for everyone. Hummingbird Coffee has even made a special Little River Café blend, which makes for excellent barista drinks, and the colourful case is a sight to behold each time you visit.
Take your meal outside into Little River Art Gallery’s sculpture garden and don’t miss the boutique grocery section which offers New Zealand wine, beer, and honey, Killinchy Gold ice cream scoops, local produce, and some of their homemade sauces by the bottle. If you simply can’t get enough of this special little town, book a night at SiloStay located just next door.
