Winter Fireworks Spectacular

We're kicking off the school holidays with a bang. Round up your whānau and join us for Ōtautahi-Christchurch's winter fireworks spectacular.

Proudly produced by Christchurch City Council, Winter Fireworks Spectacular will deliver a cracker fireworks display set to modern kiwi classics off the New Brighton Pier.

Enjoy kai from the local vendors onsite then watch the sky light up. The Hits will also be there to emcee the event.

If you can't make it or are watching from the hills, tune in to 97.7FM from 7pm to listen to the modern kiwi classics synched with the fireworks.

If bad weather forces the postponement of the fireworks, it will be announced via The Hits and our Facebook page. The call to cancel may not be made until just before the fireworks start at 7pm. The postponement date is Sunday 10 July.

We’re expecting heaps of punters so plan your journey ahead of time.

Road closures start from 4pm and on-street parking will be limited. Check our map below to learn more.

The quickest way in and out of New Brighton will be by bus, so hop aboard the best pick-up line in town! We'll be running a park and ride to and from the event:

Eastgate mall to New Brighton Pier: 4.30pm to 6.30pm.
New Brighton Pier to Eastgate mall: 7.30pm to 9.30pm.

Mobility parking is available to people with an official mobility sticker at the New Brighton Beach South Ramp Carpark. The best way to get there will be via Bridge Street.
