In 2026, New Zealand and India mark an important milestone, celebrating 100 years of connection through sport. The relationship began in 1926 when an Indian Army hockey team toured New Zealand for the first time, bringing players and communities together.
Today, that connection extends across communities, cultures and generations, strengthened through a shared passion for sport and the vibrant Indian community that calls New Zealand home.
To mark the centenary, Ōtautahi Christchurch will host a programme of events that bring together sport, culture and community, offering locals and visitors the chance to be part of this historic celebration.
