Transportation
What is the best way to get to One New Zealand Stadium?
The best way to get to the stadium is on foot from the central city.
Traffic congestion can be heavy, especially during peak times so always allow more time than you expect to get to and from the venue – aiming to arrive at least 45 minutes before the start of the event.
How do I walk to the stadium from the central city?
The stadium is centrally located in Christchurch, just 400 metres from the public Bus Interchange and an 8-minute walk from The Terrace.
There are pedestrian walkways throughout the Stadium precinct joining to all streets. The main entrances to One NZ Stadium are via Barbadoes Street and Tuam Street but there are also entrances off Madras and Hereford Streets.
How can I take a bus to the stadium?
Event Direct by Metro is Christchurch’s new pre‑booked shuttle service designed specifically for major events at One New Zealand Stadium. It provides a reliable, direct transport option for fans attending large events such as Super Round. The booking system will be live by early April.
There will be 11 well-known, accessible pickup points across Christchurch.
The buses will go directly to Latimer Square and Ara and, with the return journey departing from the same locations. These locations are both about a block from the stadium.
Metro will run all standard bus routes on normal timetables throughout Super Round weekend.
The Bus Interchange is located 400 metres from the stadium.
Can I bike or scooter to the stadium?
Yes. Bike racks are available in the stadium precinct. E-scooter providers Flamingo and Lime are available in the city for short commutes to and from the stadium.
Will taxis and rideshares be able to get to the stadium?
Taxis and rideshare vehicles will drop off and pick up at designated zones on Lichfield St just east of the stadium.
Can I drive my car to the stadium?
Yes, but there are plenty of better options. There is no onsite parking at the stadium and traffic is likely to be heavy, especially on Friday evening.
There are several public car parks nearby. Check out our Accessibility section for details about accessible parking at the Stadium.
During large capacity events at the stadium congestion in the surrounding streets and carparks will be high — particularly after the event, so we recommend using public transport or taxi/ride-share options.
Is there car parking close to the stadium?
Yes. Christchurch City offers a wide variety of parking options. Check out their website for the best spots around the stadium.
Accessibility
Where is the wheelchair access?
There are five accessible entry routes that lead directly into the stadium.
Entrances include wide gates, smooth surfaces, and barrier-free access for wheelchairs, walkers, and mobility scooters.
Is there accessible parking?
On event days, One NZ Stadium provides:
- 39 bookable accessible car parks within the stadium precinct
- Dedicated accessible drop-off/pick-up zones near main gates
- Step-free routes from mobility parking to stadium entrances
Early arrival is recommended.
How can I get amongst the fun if I don’t have a ticket?
ChristchurchNZ is producing a Live Site on The Terrace next to the Bridge of Remembrance where all the games will be shown live on a big screen. There are also signing sessions and other fun events at the Bridge of Remembrance.
A Fan Trail along Cashel Street will connect the Live Site with the Stadium, and you’ll be sure to mix and mingle with fans on the Trail.
The central city will be buzzing with activity over the busy weekend, so come into the city to be part of the festive atmosphere surrounding the first event at the new One New Zealand Stadium.
