The Skeatles are an elite, Christchurch, New Zealand-based skiffle-styled Beatles cover band.
The concept behind the group is reimagining the Fab Four's catalogue by taking them back to their mid-1950s musical origins. Essentially, they play the songs that The Beatles' original group, The Quarrymen, "didn't know they had yet to write".
The band was conceptualised by Christchurch multi-instrumentalist David Thorpe. Deeply immersed in the skiffle sub-genre, Thorpe famously consulted with Rod Davis, an original member of The Quarrymen, who was present the historic day that John Lennon met Paul McCartney. The Skeatles use authentic, stripped-down instrumentation such as the tea chest bass and washboard to deliver high energy, acoustic-driven "skifflised" versions of early and late Beatles classics.
The band is composed of a seasoned collective of veteran New Zealand and international musicians:
An emerging indie folk group, Northern Fogline and Candice Milner, a compelling live performer, known for intimate delivery paired with emotional clarity and musical range.
Candice Milner is an indie folk rock songwriter hailing from the port town of Lyttelton, Ōtautahi. Her work frequently explores semi sarcastic meditations on heartbreak, ambition, and other vague monotonous topics. Balancing sweetness with grit, Milner’s songwriting blends intimate folk storytelling with grungy undertones and emotional bite.
