New to Ōtautahi? Put down roots by planting a native in our new red zone riverside wetland for Welcoming Week.
Join CCC park rangers and local community in planting the river delta and wetland created alongside Avon Ōtākaro River as part of the redevelopment of Avon Park.
This well-loved local park has had lots of exciting upgrades to play spaces, walkways and courts as well as the establishment of the wetland that enhances the health of the river and creates important habitat for birds.
The new City to Sea Pathway runs right to this park from the central city which makes for a wonderful active commute. The nearest bus stop is on Kerrs Road on the #80 or #5 route,
Come explore this amazing destination alongside the river that runs right through the heart of our city and help contribute to a living legacy.
Wear long sleeves and pants and closed toe shoes and dress for the weather. Bring your personal water bottle as planting is a good workout, and we will finish with a BBQ.
Whether you’ve moved here from overseas, or from elsewhere in New Zealand, everyone is welcome. This event has been organised as part of Welcoming Week.
Glad you're here - nau mai rā.
