What happens when 50 vintage suitcases are handed to 50 Canterbury artists with one simple brief: tell a story?

Suitcase Stories is a one-of-a-kind fundraising exhibition presented by Chapter 1 Gallery, featuring works by some of Canterbury's most celebrated artists alongside exciting emerging talent. The twist? Every artwork is exhibited anonymously, encouraging visitors to connect with the artwork itself before discovering who created it.

Each transformed suitcase tells its own story through painting, sculpture, mixed media and unexpected creative expression, making this an exhibition full of surprises.

Following the exhibition, the artworks will be auctioned, with all proceeds supporting Koru Care Christchurch, which provides life-changing holidays for children living with serious medical conditions, and Nurse Maude Hospice, helping provide compassionate end-of-life care across Canterbury.
