This grand mansion was begun in 1856 and completed in 1900. It was the home of the Deans family for 80 years. Tour the house and learn about the history of the family – their stories, dreams, loves and promises, from their origins in lowland Scotland to the triumphs and tragedy in New Zealand. 

Wander through more than 20 elegantly restored rooms, from the grand fine dining room to intimate bedrooms, and hear stories that bring 19th-century Christchurch to life. The tour offers a captivating glimpse into domestic life of the era and is suitable for visitors who enjoy heritage houses and storytelling.
