Step back in time where Kate Sheppard lived and discover her hidden world of New Zealand’s suffrage campaign through discovery and learning.

Young history detectives will:

  • uncover buried “mystery objects” linked to the women’s suffrage movement
  • sort and classify their discoveries like real museum investigators
  • learn about the brave women and men who fought for the vote
  • create their own white camellia badge — the symbol of support for women’s suffrage
  • sign a giant suffrage petition just like people did in the 1890s
  • This relaxed experience blends hands-on exploration, storytelling, craft, and outdoor discovery in the beautiful grounds of Kate Sheppard House.

A parent or caregiver is required stay for the session and can purchase coffee, tea, and cabinet treats available onsite while children take part in the activity.  The price includes one adult to join in the fun at the end with a museum tour.

Perfect for ages minimum 7 years old to 12 years and up.
No experience needed — just curiosity to learn and the patience to sit and document.
