Best places to stargaze

Here are some of the best places to stargaze in Ōtautahi Christchurch for an unforgettable celestial spectacle.

Observatory Hotel Exterior

The Observatory Hotel

Located in the historic setting of the Christchurch Arts Centre, The Observatory Hotel is a luxurious place to stay while visiting the city, with unique design and attention to detail that won't go unnoticed. What’s even better is you can star gaze from the comfort of your lush bed. That’s right, some of the rooms have expansive sky lights so you can literally sleep under the stars while staying cosy and warm in your room. Be sure to ask for one of the prestige skylight rooms when booking. In the winter months, be sure to book the Heritage Stargazing from the Observatory Tower, where you can experience the glittering southern sky through a Victorian-era Townsend Teece Telescope.
