Ōtautahi Christchurch
Enjoy a buzzing atmosphere in a charming setting at Christchurch Farmers' Market, held at historic Riccarton House every Saturday morning. Meats, cheeses, fruit and vegetables sit alongside superb coffee and baked treats to enjoy while you're strolling around.
With over 300 stalls Riccarton Sunday Market is Christchurch's largest market. Held every Sunday from 9am - 2pm there's always a bargain or tasty treat to be found.
In the heart of the city overlooking the Avon River, Riverside Market operates 7 days a week and provides a unique farmers' market experience. Indulge in locally sourced fare, numerous restaurants and all-round good vibes. The inside location makes it the perfect destination whatever the weather.
The Vegan Night Mākete raises the awesomeness level of plant-based foods, goods, and treats on the last Saturday of every month. The market is organised by the Christchurch Vegan Society and is part of efforts to raise awareness of the benefits of veganism.
Lyttelton & Akaroa
Saturday mornings are a hive of activity in the historic port-side town of Lyttelton. Its thriving Farmers' Market attracts a host of locals and visitors every weekend, with a colourful array of local produce as well as stalls cooking up tasty brunch options to enjoy as you wander. Local musicians often provide entertainment, and there are lots of tempting treats to enjoy with a good coffee as you soak up the atmosphere.
The Akaroa Farmers Market brings a taste of Southern France to Banks Peninsula every Saturday from 9.30am. Stock-up the picnic basket with delights such as olives, baguettes, croissants, cheese and freshly-caught fish, and enjoy a day exploring the stunning seaside village of Akaroa – a former French settlement just 1.5 hours' drive from Christchurch. Please note: The Akaroa Farmers Market runs from October - April.
Waimakariri & Hurunui
Soak up the casual country atmosphere at the Amberley Farmers' Market every Saturday, made up of passionate growers and producers from across the Hurunui. You’ll find delicious food and locally-produced products such as olive oil, sausages, bacon, cheese and honey right in the middle of town on State Highway 1.
Ohoka Domain comes alive every Friday morning as the Ohoka Farmers' Market supports up to 55 growers and food artisans, with a focus on local and seasonal eco-agriculture in the Waimakariri. A short and scenic 25 minute drive from Christchurch will take you to Ohoka.
Head to Oxford for a leisurely Sunday morning market filled with a wide range of meats, fruit, vegetables, flowers, preserves and more from over 15 stalls. The Oxford Farmers' Market operates year round, come rain or shine.
