Kahikatea Kirkwood Intermediate School provides high-quality education for Year 7 and Year 8 students aged 10–13 in a caring, inclusive and supportive environment.
With approximately 320 students, the school offers a welcoming community where international students can build friendships and experience everyday New Zealand school life.
Our broad curriculum includes English, mathematics, social sciences, health, languages, arts, physical education and Te Reo Māori.
Students also enjoy practical learning through specialist technology programmes in foods, electronics, materials, design and graphics.
International students join local students in mainstream classes and receive dedicated ESOL support from our experienced and stable team.
The school offers modern classrooms, specialist technology rooms, a well-equipped library, a swimming pool and outdoor activity facilities.
Depending on their enrolment period, students may also participate in cultural activities, school camps, swimming programmes and a winter ski experience.
We welcome both long-term students and short-term groups, including very short stays.
Homestay accommodation can be arranged, allowing students to experience New Zealand family and community life.
