Founded in 1881, Christchurch Boys’ High School (CBHS) is a single-sex Year 9-13 state secondary school for boys with a roll of approximately 1400 students.

The School has a reputation for academic excellence and an extensive co-curricular programme, and is regarded as one of New Zealand’s leading schools. Christchurch Boys’ High School believes in high standards and the pursuit of excellence – in academic work, in sport and culture, in discipline and behaviour, and in service to others.

All students must have sufficient English competence to cope in mainstream classes. This equates to Intermediate level English language skills. This is tested before and after arrival at CBHS.

Year 11 and 12 students study NCEA courses. Year 13 is seen as a preparation year for university. Accelerant and extension classes operate at all levels.
