Have you ever wanted to shape silver with your fingers?
Join us for a magical block class exploring fine silver clay - an extraordinary material that allows you to sculpt, texture and form real silver jewellery as easily as working with modelling clay.
Art Clay is made from microscopic particles of fine silver, bronze or copper mixed with an organic binder and water. While it feels soft and pliable in your hands, once your pieces are dried and fired in the kiln, the binder burns away and the metal particles fuse together, leaving you with solid fine silver jewellery.
It truly feels like alchemy!
What You’ll Learn:
Throughout the workshop, you’ll explore a wide range of techniques, including:
Conditioning and rolling fine silver clay
Creating organic and geometric forms
Texturing using natural objects and studio tools
Working with syringe clay for hollow form pieces and decorative details
Simple construction methods for pendants, earrings and rings
Firing gemstones into your pieces
Drying, refining and finishing techniques
Kiln firing and what happens during sintering
Polishing and burnishing to bring your silver to life
You’ll also work with bronze or copper clay, allowing you to experiment with different metals and create beautiful mixed-metal pieces.
And the best part? If you’re not happy with a design before firing, you can simply re-wet the clay and start again. It’s wonderfully forgiving and encourages playful experimentation.

Your generous materials pack includes:
10g fine silver clay
5g fine silver syringe clay
25g bronze or copper clay
This is enough to create multiple finished pieces.
Additional findings such as chains and earring hooks will be available for purchase on the day. We’ll also demonstrate simple jewellery finishing techniques like soldering jump rings and forming earring hooks so you can confidently complete your pieces.
This workshop is perfect for complete beginners or advanced students.
Teens and creative kids are also welcome, under 16s must attend with an enrolled parent or caregiver.
No prior experience is needed - just curiosity and a willingness to experiment.
