This beginner level class is designed for students who are new to jewellery making, with everyone following the same guided project.
The course starts Mon 13 April and runs for 8 weeks till Mon 15 June, 5.30pm - 8pm.
Our popular weeknight classes are a welcoming and hands-on way to get started, offering a lively, friendly studio environment and plenty of support along the way.
The stone setting process teaches you many fundamental techniques in one project. You’ll begin by learning basic ring-making and stone-setting skills in copper or brass, including measuring, texturing, shaping, cutting and soldering.
From there, you’ll make a practice ring set with a cabochon stone (a stone with a flat base and smooth, domed top) in a classic bezel setting. Once you’re confident, you can choose to progress to working in silver to create a second ring using a stone you love, or continue developing a more ambitious design in copper and brass.
The class fee includes copper, brass and two gemstones. Silver is available for purchase in the studio if you’d like to work with precious metal for your second stone set ring.
You’ll have a beautiful selection of beginner-friendly stones to choose from, in a wide range of colours.
There is no class on Anzac Day or King's Birthday.
