Mad for Trad - River City Jazzmen

Ball, Barber and Bilk will revisit the heady 'traditional pop' which poured out of UK pubs in the days before the Liverpool invasion.

Trad jazz figured regularly and unashamedly at the top of the Hit Parades, vying at times with the highly accessible Skiffle as it slowly encroached on Trad territory.

Skiffle king, Lonnie Donnegan, had a foot in both camps as he was Chris Barber's banjo player! But the hits kept coming and RCJ is keen tonight to share our memorable, metropolitan, musical musings with the discerning Christchurch Trad cognoscenti!!

This event is a part of our Jazz Club 2025 series, happening every Thursday between 26 June and 11 September 2025.
 

Tickets

There are two ticket options: a cabaret-style table of premium seating with a complimentary drink for $40, or theatre-style seating for $20 to $25. 

If you choose the cabaret-style table, you can also purchase a platter for two for $25. We will seek dietary requirements closer to the event.

The bar will be open throughout, of course.
