Immerse yourself in Christchurch’s rich natural and cultural history with the second leg of the guided Christchurch 360 Trail Walk.
Starting at the Groynes/Clearwater resort and finishing at the Gondola, this walk will take you beside a mighty braided river, through savannah grasslands, past suburban gardens interspersed with streams and reserves, native bush teeming with birdlife, and stunning volcanic landscapes.
Along the way, we will share our knowledge about the city’s geological formation, its cultural significance to Ngāi Tahu, and how it has evolved into the vibrant city we know today.
Each day, we will use a shuttle to return everybody to the starting point of that day's walk. There will be a pre-walk briefing and intro on the evening of Tuesday September 23 2025 (venue will be advised to participants).
The first leg of this walk, starting at the Gondola and finishing at Clearwater, was part of the Otautahi-Christchurch Walking Festival and took place from 22 to 27 April this year. We are happy to welcome back those who wish to complete the Christchurch 360 Trail circuit, as well as walkers who wish to join for this second leg, and maybe complete the other half another time.
Participants and their dependents (children must be supervised) must take full responsibility for their safety, health, and equipment while navigating varied terrain, wearing sturdy footwear and appropriate clothing, and carrying essential supplies, including water, food, and sun protection. This walk is not suitable for dogs.
Meet at the car park at the corner of Clearwater Avenue and Rotoiti Lane, Northwood.
No postponement day unless extreme weather events.
