Join us for a full day of conversations, thought-provoking panels, and a keynote address. A day for free speech advocates everywhere!
86 Kilmore Street , Christchurch Town Hall
Paid event
Join us for a full day of conversations, thought-provoking panels, and a keynote address from Helen Joyce herself. If you're passionate about truth seeking, community, democracy, and the future of free speech in New Zealand, this is a day you don’t want to miss.
This year’s event promises to be our most compelling yet, headlined by internationally renowned journalist and author Helen Joyce!
Joyce is known for her fearless advocacy of free speech and her bestselling book has placed her at the centre of global debates on free speech. In 2022, she left The Economist to become Director of Advocacy at Sex Matters, a UK-based campaign group focused on sex-based rights. Joyce’s work is marked by clarity, journalistic integrity, and a steadfast commitment to truth, even when it challenges prevailing norms. Her advocacy continues to inspire and shape public discourse.
Don’t miss this rare chance to hear Helen Joyce and join the national conversation, right in your backyard.
Alongside Helen’s address, the day will feature two topical (and sometimes contentious!) panels, and optional interactive workshops, and the chance to connect with others passionate about truth, democracy, and open debate.
There is something here for everyone, whether you prefer to observe or get amongst it.
The two exciting panels:
Where’s the line between democratic expression and unlawful disruption?
Featuring:

Gaylene Barnes
Moderated by the one and only Chris Lynch!
