Set within the world-renowned Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve, you'll discover stars, planets, galaxies and constellations through powerful telescopes while our expert guides bring the cosmos to life with fascinating astronomy, science and Māori star stories. Every ticket also includes a complimentary daytime hot pools pass, valid on the day of your tour or the following day. If weather conditions limit telescope viewing, your experience continues with an immersive guided Virtual Reality journey through the Tekapo night sky, ensuring a memorable experience in all conditions. Conditions
The Early Stars for Early Birds tour includes a 60-minute guided telescope experience, hot drink, blankets, and complimentary access to Tekapo Springs Hot Pools at daytime (valid on the day of the tour or the following day). In case of cloudy weather, the tour becomes an indoor Virtual Reality experience. Suitable for most weather conditions. Dress warmly for outdoor viewing.
Cancellation Policy
Tours cancelled by Tekapo Stargazing due to extreme weather or operational requirements are eligible for an alternative tour (subject to availability) or a full refund. Direct bookings may be changed or cancelled up to 24 hours before departure for a refund, voucher or date change. Within 24 hours, bookings are non-refundable. Third-party bookings follow the agent's policy. If telescope viewing is under 30 minutes due to weather, a 25% ticket refund applies.
