What is Supercars?
The Repco Supercars Championship (formally Australian Touring Car Championship) is the premier motorsport category in Australasia and one of Australia’s biggest sports. Globally, it is recognised as the best touring car category in the world and a leader in motorsport entertainment.
How does the Supercars format work?
The 2026 season will continue with the entertaining three-phase structure introduced in 2025: the Repco Sprint Cup, Ryco Enduro Cup, and the dramatic Repco Finals Series, which has proven a popular addition to the championship. How many races are held during the season?
In 2026, 37 Supercars races will take place across 14 rounds.
Has Supercars raced in New Zealand before?
Yes, Supercars first came to New Zealand in 2001, held at Pukekohe. Since then, the championship has raced in Hamilton and Taupo. 2026 marks the first time Supercars will come to the South Island.

When is the event taking place?
The ITM Christchurch Super 440 takes place 17–19 April 2026.
Where is the event being held?
The event is at Ruapuna Raceway (also referred to as Euromarque Motorsport Park), located in Templeton.
What is the event schedule for each day?
Detailed session times will be released closer to the event.

You can expect food vendors, merchandise stalls, fan zones and family‑friendly areas, offering an immersive motorsport festival atmosphere.
Upgrades underway at Ruapuna Raceway
As Christchurch prepares to host Supercars, Ruapuna Raceway is undergoing targeted upgrades to meet track safety standards for its inaugural year. Led by the Canterbury Car Club and supported by Christchurch City Council, ChristchurchNZ, and Supercars, the immediate focus is on ensuring the circuit complies with all safety requirements for drivers and spectators.

How do I buy tickets?
Tickets can be purchased through the official Supercars website.
What types of tickets are available?
General Admission, Grandstand seating, Hospitality packages, Multi‑day passes. There are also add on options including Paddock pass and Pitlane walk upgrades.
Do children need their own ticket?
Children 12 and under receive free general admission.
Accessibility at Christchurch Supercars
Is the event accessible for wheelchair users or people with mobility needs?
Yes. There is an accessible viewing area located between Turns 10 and 11 near Gate B. Guests should purchase Trackside General Admission and then email commercial@ticketek.co.nz to advise requirements. The venue is a mix of sealed roads, dirt roads and grass. Viewing areas around the track are all raised above the racetrack, and therefore, there is a requirement to navigate inclines and descents around the venue. Corporate tickets can be purchased for the Engine Room, which caters to those using a wheelchair. There are also a number of wheelchair-friendly toilets in the precinct.
Are there accessible parking options?
Accessible parking will be located in the premium carpark. There are limited carparks in this location, which will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Spectators parking here will need to show a valid ticket to the event (including all passengers in the vehicle) and a valid NZ mobility parking permit clearly displayed on the front windscreen of the vehicle. Entry to this carpark for valid mobility car parking permits is free. If the carpark is full, patrons can head to the public carpark or to the park n ride at the Canterbury Agricultural Park (A&P showgrounds, 102 Curletts Road, Sockburn, Christchurch). Accessible buses will be operating throughout the day.
Getting to the Christchurch Supercars event
What’s the best way to get to the event venue?
Multiple transport options will operate over the race weekend:
- A 'Super shuttle service' will be running from the central city. This is a paid morning and nightly service, and return shuttle tickets can be purchased starting from $30.
- There will be a free Supercars park n ride service running from the Canterbury Agricultural Park. With no booking necessary, attendees can drive to the Canterbury Agricultural Park, park their vehicle and take the free shuttle to the raceway. View directions on Google Maps.
- There is free parking onsite, however this is limited and will be allocated on a first in first served basis. Overflows will need to head to the Canterbury Agricultural Park and take the free shuttle service to the event, or ticket holders can purchase a shuttle service to and from the city.
- There is also an option to purchase a premium carpark. This $120 add-on will score you a 3-day carpark just outside an entry gate. There is limited availability, and tickets need to be purchased online prior to arriving at the event.
Will there be road closures around the event?
Yes, temporary closures and traffic management will be in place around the venue. Details will be available closer to the event.
Is public transport available?
No, however tickets can be purchased for a bus from the CBD, or free shuttles from the Canterbury Agricultural Park.
Is there a drop-off/pick-up area for taxis and rideshare?
Designated drop‑off/pick‑up points will be signposted at the venue.
How far is the venue from central Christchurch?
It is about 25 minutes by car.
