The Mackenzie area is the perfect gateway to experience winter in Canterbury. From skiing to ice skating and soaking in the Hot Pools, there is something to do for everyone.
The entire Mackenzie Region is an International Dark Sky Reserve, one of eight worldwide and the only one in the Southern Hemisphere. The region’s skies are incredibly clear with brilliant stars. You may even see the Aurora Australis or “Southern Lights”. Join a star gazing tour and explore the wonders of the universe.
Soak in the hot pools or enjoy a rejuvenating spa treatment or relaxing massage. Go ice skating or snow tubing then warm up with a hot drink or delicious snack in the café while admiring the beautiful views.
Embark upon an unforgettable adventure on New Zealand’s longest glacier, the Tasman. Imagine being surrounded by ice, rock and brilliant blue skies in near silence except for pure snow crunching underfoot.
