Take a winter weekend in Mackenzie

Snow-capped mountains, postcard views, and world-class stargazing – this region knows how to turn it on for winter. Mt Cook and Lake Tekapo in the Mackenzie region are the perfect location for a weekend away with family or that someone special.

Ryan and Jillian started off their weekend with a scenic flight and glacier landing courtesy of INFLITE Experiences Mt Cook - 360. This is absolutely a once in a lifetime opportunity full of magical views and the chance to set foot on a glacier. They then spent their afternoon exploring the Hooker Valley Track before heading to The Hermitage Hotel to experience their world-famous buffet.

After waking up to arguably one of the best views in New Zealand, Ryan and Jillian hit the road for the beautiful Lake Tekapo. They spent their afternoon at the very exciting Tekapo Springsice skating and hitting the snow tube. Tekapo Springs is the perfect place to take the family this winter, with awesome activities for all ages, a relaxing hot pool, and nightly stargazing tours, you can easily spend all weekend here.

Day three was spent exploring Lake Tekapo and visiting the world-famous Church of the Good Shepherd before hitting the road back to Christchurch.
