Lakestone Lodge is a newly opened lodge situated between Lake Tekapo and Twizel with some of the most spectacular views in the country.
On calm days New Zealand’s highest mountain, Aoraki Mt Cook, can be seen reflected in the turquoise glacial waters of the lake. In contrast, mountain storms, rolling in over the alps, can be viewed from the comfort and warmth of this luxurious lodge. In the evenings, after watching the sun setting over the mountains, guests can enjoy some of the clearest night skies in the world as Lakestone Lodge is located in the heart of UNESCO’s biggest International Dark Sky Reserve.
The lodge opened its doors earlier this month and has begun receiving guests from all over the world. The lodge is north facing with six ensuited guest rooms all rooms with stunning views of Lake Pukaki and the Southern Alps. Guest rooms consist of either a super king bed or two singles, each room has a private courtyard and the ensuites each house a bath with lake, mountains and night sky views as well as a seperate shower.
Guests are treated to a beautiful cooked breakfast each morning from our chef Alexandra. A delicious three course dinner showcasing local produce is also available upon request.
The off grid eco lodge is powered by 32 solar panels and kept warm from clever north facing design to maximise the winter sun.
Guests are able to watch their favourite team in the media room complete with surround sound, indulge in a massage or facial in the therapy room, take a helicopter flight direct from the lodge over the spectacular Mackenzie scenery or just enjoy one of the many surrounding cycle or walking trails.
