Tips for Filming

  • Film the video landscape and introduce yourself
  • Show don’t tell! Think visuals first, words second. If you’re making food think Tasty-style food videos, if it’s a fitness video, keep it brief and fun
  • Post a teaser to your Instagram Story saying you'll be releasing a full video on
  • Use #exploreyourplace and
  • Don't touch your face!
  • Good lighting from behind the camera. (Tip: Point a lamp at your face from behind the camera)
  • Record in a space that doesn't echo and make sure you’ve got time and space (unless your little ones or pets plan to feature!)
  • Run a few tests to get the hang of it
  • If it helps, write what you want to say as a script, practice a few times, and then throw the notes away!
  • Don't be afraid to look into the camera! If you’re not used to it, it can help if someone sits behind the camera
  • Think about the audience and our current situation. Iit’s a cooking tutorial, make it simple and easy to follow. If it’s a fitness video, remember people will be doing it in their living room.
  • Check your background for offending material. We can’t publish your video with anything offensive in the background
  • Say thanks at the end and repeat your social handles. ‘Follow me on xxx for more' and repeat the explore your place hashtag #exploreyourplace
