The $5 million Sir Richard Hadlee Sports Centre is set to elevate Ōtautahi Christchurch and Hagley Oval Cricket Precinct to new heights when it opens ahead of the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2022.
The purpose-built facility sits alongside Hagley Oval and will boast gender-neutral changing rooms with direct access to the outdoor training nets behind the centre, five cricket lanes with 20-metre run ups, all sitting within the huge 850sqm sports hall that will accommodate 5 metre tall tension nets.
The Sports Hall can also be configured for other sports and uses like futsal, netball, and hockey. Epic right?
Bearing the name of one of Canterbury’s favourite cricketing sons, the Sir Richard Hadlee Sports Centre will be a game changer for nurturing future generations of Cantabrian sportspeople.
