Final Call for NZ Aerospace Challenge 2019 Applications

Sunday 15 September 2019, is the last day to get your application in for the New Zealand Aerospace Challenge 2019.

The Challenge seeks the brightest minds from across the country to develop a product or service that detect, monitors or measures water or soil pollution using the very latest satellite and unmanned aircraft technology data.

The winner will be awarded $30,000, access to Airbus vouchers for satellite data, co-working space in Christchurch and support to commercalise their idea from industry and Challenge partners.

Some of the ideas under development include:

  • monitoring agricultural variables including urine patch detection, pasture measurement and pest detection
  • utilising predictive analytics to measure water quality
  • tracking pollution on land and in water
  • offering vision-based modelling
  • utilising UAVs for water and soil sampling
  • monitoring water flow in rivers.

Up to ten finalist will be determined by a judging panel made up of experts from across the agritech, aeronautical, aerospace, innovation and business community.

The finalists will be invited to a pitchfest and awards event held in Christchurch on 18 October where the Grand Prize Winner will be announced.
