Wildlife or Fishing Cruises
These Banks Peninsula ports offer plenty of options for you to have a fun day out on the water.
Home to local fauna including Hector’s dolphins, seals, penguins and seabirds, wildlife cruises offer some amazing animal encounter opportunities.
The nooks and crannies of these harbours can be explored by boat on the scenic cruises available in Akaroa and Lyttelton. Nothing beats a day out on the water in the sun with your mates.
Let’s Go Sailing
Excited about SailGP coming to Lyttelton Harbour next year? Why not take up the challenge of sailing for yourself!
There are endless courses available teaching Kiwis how to sail safely.
Local yacht clubs up and down Canterbury’s coast offer opportunities to learn or to just get out on the water and have some fun. Give it a go!
Get on a boat and get amongst the summer vibes. It's time for a boat party!
Is there a more perfect way to celebrate a birthday, function or group event than on a private charter cruise?
Grab your mates, get a glass of bubbles and a bite to eat, and watch the sun set over the water.
Out on the Lake
Stretch those hamstrings and put your pedalling to the test!
Soak in the picturesque views of Lake Roto Kohatu at the Groynes in northern Christchurch and zip around in the oh-so-fun pedal boats.
Pedal boats and aqua trikes are available for hire at the Groynes Boat Hire from 10.30am to 4pm on the weekends.
Or, if you’re in central Christchurch, why not try the paddle boats or row boats from the Antigua Boat Sheds down the beautiful Avon River.
