A gracious, heritage listed home (circa 1888), is set in an acre
of immaculately presented Christchurch gardens. Originally
the home of the leader of New Zealand's suffragette movement - Kate
Sheppard, today remains a beautifully presented private residence
made available for small private meetings and functions.
A marquee site within the gardens, provides an idealic location
for dining and cocktail - garden parties; made extremely

Located in the leafy suburb of Ilam, just 10 minutes from the
Christchurch Airport and the Christchurch city centre, this is a
private venue suitable for exclusive group dining.

Kate Sheppard House (circa 1888) offers a formal dining room,
capable of comfortably seating up to 30 guests for dinner, with
adjoining lounge, veranda's and sitting room, furnished with
quality New Zealand artworks and antiques.
A marquee site contained within the gardens, provides ideal
dining venue for groups of up to 145 guests (125 with dance floor)
or up to 200 for cocktails. A permanent marquee is set
through the summer months, complete with solid doors, flooring,
quality lighting and dining furniture.
The gardens are available for private group tours, with owner
Julia Burbury available for personal inspection and discussion on
garden design, content and the history. Julia also welcomes
tour group visitors through her home and will serve morning,
afternoon teas and lunch if required.
This gracious heritage listed home was originally that of Kate
Sheppard (1847 - 1934) who was recognised for her leadership in New
Zealand's world leading suffragette movement and today has her
portrait featured on the New Zealand ten dollar
note.

Travelling from Christchurch International Airport, take Memorial Drive to Clyde Road intersection (approx 7 minutes) and turn right. You will travel for approx 1km, through the traffic lights at the Creyke Road intersection. A large hedge provides privacy to the property; public bus stop at gate.
