The Major Events Fund is open for applications from the 20 September – 18 October 2019.
ChristchurchNZ attracts, hosts and invests in Major Events on behalf of the city.
Our strategic investment into Major Events contributes to the vibrancy and life of the city, attracting visitors, stimulating economic activity and raising our city’s profile nationally and internationally - leaving a positive legacy for the wider community.
The annual portfolio of Major Events will support a diverse range of events across the calendar year and across the region. These include a mix of arts, music, cultural and sporting events.
Our Major Events Fund allows event organisers to submit an application to secure partnership investment to host their event in Christchurch.
Eligibility criteria and application information are included in the guidelines below. All ChristchurchNZ’s investments in events are subject to adhering to our terms and conditions, availability of funds and agreed activity-related contracts.

How and when to apply
The Major Events Fund is open for applications from the 20 September 2019 and closes at midnight on 18 October 2019. Notification of application outcomes will be advised in December 2019.
Submissions to the fund can be made for events dated from 1 July 2020 – 30 June 2022, with an opportunity to apply for multiyear funding partnerships within these dates.
Applications need to be completed electronically and submitted by email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
All applications require supporting documentation including:
1. Event budget
2. Event business plan
3. Event marketing plan
4. Event health & safety risk management plan
