Glacier Explorers

An amazing encounter with New Zealand’s largest glacier, the Tasman Glacier and it's rapidly growing terminal lake. Take the bus from outside The Hermitage Hotel to the beautiful Tasman Valley where your guide will lead you on a 20 minute walk through the moraine (uneven surface, covered footwear recommended) to the Tasman Glacier terminal lake. Here you will board our custom built MAC boats to explore the fascinating glacial landscape dotted with ever-changing icebergs, the glacier face and spectacular mountain views. The boat passes so close to the icebergs you can touch and taste the 300 year old glacial crystals! Commentary from our guides imparts their knowledge and passion for this amazing alpine environment.
