Akaroa Farm Tours will lead you to Paua Bay Hillcountry Farm, a
traditional New Zealand working farm on the steep hills of Banks
Peninsula just outside Akaroa. While enjoying the scenic drive in
our minivan listen to the history of the first French settlers and
the development of Akaroa, the first European settlement in
Canterbury. Murray Johns, the farmer of Paua Bay Hillcountry Farm,
will welcome you upon arrival and lead you through the colourful
history of his family, being farmers on that very spot for five
generations. You will experience the sheep dogs working on the
steep hills of Paua Bay and you can try your skills at mustering a
flock of sheep in the sheepyards. See a sheep shearing
demonstration and feel the handling of wool, one of nature's
greatest products. Relax on the verandah of the homestead with tea,
coffee and homemade scones and stroll through the lush gardens.
