The Selwyn District is renowned by road cyclists for its long straight and picturesque rural roads. Whether you're looking to stretch your legs after work or pound out the kms in the weekend, the roads around Lincoln and Lake Elsemere are perfect for all levels of road cyclists. Little River Rail Trail

The Christchurch to Little River Rail Trail connects Christchurch to Little River via a pleasant and purpose built cycle trail following a 19th century rail route. The majority of the trail in now complete with the most popular sections, Motukarara to Birdlings Flat and Birdlings Flat to Little River, suitable for cyclists of all abilities. Take your time and enjoy boutique shops and cafes along the way in Prebbleton,  Lincoln and en-route at TaiTapu. The lakeside trails also offer breath taking views of Banks Peninsula. Craigieburn Valley

The Craigiebun track joins Craigieburn Valley Ski Area to the Broken River Ski Area access road. It's suitable for adventurous intermediate riders to serious cross-country or downhill riders. Just a quick note, it's a shared use track but you could easily be fooled into thinking it was purpose built as it's that good.
