Pacific Coast
The South Island of New Zealand has some of the world's
most spectacular coastline - stretching from from the Pacific Ocean
to the Tasman Sea. Nowhere in the South Island is more than 125km
from the coast, at any point.
It's a playground for kayaking, surfing, fishing and so much
more. The wildlife is diverse - from humpback whales and sea lions
to yellow-eyed penguins. Kaikoura is the albatross
capital of the world, and Akaroa is the best place on
the planet to see the rare Hector's dolphin. The Top of the
South Island is a paradise of beaches and national parks,
golden bays and great walks.
While the coast is alive with paddling, snorkeling and cruising;
there are many times, and places, where you'll have a golden bay or
unspoilt beach - all to yourself.
Follow these itinerary suggestions and find more
information on our favourite coastal dreamlands.
Whether you want to sit back and enjoy the view, catch a wave or
