Introducing - Ryan Sanders

From Haka Tours, Christchurch

Haka Tours operates 6 to 30 small day group adventures and snow tours of New Zealand and has been operating tours for just over 3 years. 2010 has been an exciting year so far with the purchase of "Haka Lodge" - a boutique 10 bedroom lodge designed for the flash-packer market and Director, Ryan Sanders being named Young Entrepreneur of the year at the New Zealand Tourism Awards.

1. What are your role and responsibilities?

Director and owner of Haka Tours and Haka Lodge

2. What's the first thing you do on a Saturday morning?

Check e-mails via blackberry and then straight off to brush my teeth - hate not having a clean mouth! Then potentially back to bed if I don't have surfboat training….

3.What are you reading at the moment?

"Shantaram" by David Gregory Roberts

4. If you were to be stranded on an island, which three things would you bring with you?

Board shorts, surfboard and a good pair of sunnies.

5. If I invited myself over to your house for dinner, using only the contents in your fridge right now, what would you make me?

Chicken with almonds and a fresh green salad.

6. Where would you rather be right now?

Actually nowhere apart from here. I love getting Haka Lodge operational and feeling summer slowly approaching. I've already been to Hawaii, New York, Morocco, France, Spain and UK this year - all travelled out!

7. What advice would you give to your 15 year old self?

Chill out, be yourself, trust your instincts.

8. If you could only ever go one place in the world on holiday for the rest of your life - where would it be?

Spain - love the food and wine, amazing beaches, crazy cities and sexy people.

9. If you acquire one new skill within the next 24 hours, what would it be?

My dreams always involve having the ability to fly… so if flying like a bird is a skill, then that would be it! If that isn't allowed, the power to read minds…. If I am still being silly, any handyman skill will do!

10. What's one thing most people do not know about you?

I was an honorary brownie (Girl Guides). Mum was a brownie leader….
