Construction of a 40-million-dollar hotel, office and retail development is under way in central Christchurch. The mixed-use Sudima Christchurch Victoria development will accommodate more than 2300 square metres on the corner of Salisbury and Montreal Streets.
The high-spec building, with a curved glazed façade, will house a five-star hotel, a commercial office and 700sqm of retail space comprising restaurants, a day spa and café.
Sudima already operate four hotels in New Zealand and the company says this hotel “signals a major step in its continuing plans to expand and invest in Canterbury and the rest of the country.
The hotel at Sudima Christchurch Victoria will have 86 rooms for both long and short term guests.
Kilmour Properties Development director Neill Barr says the development’s high-profile location will consolidate the fast-developing Victoria quarter and is a vote of confidence in the redevelopment of Christchurch.
Early work on the site is under way and the development is scheduled to be completed in November 2018.
