The Rangiora Show highlights the best of rural North Canterbury. Featuring the region’s best equestrian and rural sporting talent, including show jumping, shearing, dance competitions and dog trials. In abundance are food and craft stalls, and the chance to see cute farm animals! EPIC! There is entertainment for the whole family, so head down to the Rangiora A&P Showgrounds on 25-26 October for some fun in the sun!
The annual Diwali Festival is back! This popular festival marks the start of the Hindu New Year and honours Indian gods in a day full of celebration. Part of BLOOM, get down to Cathedral Square for Indian arts and crafts stalls, colourful stage performances and authentic Indian cuisine. Save the date! This FREE event is on in Cathedral Square on 26 October, kicking off at 2pm.
In need of a good laugh? Perhaps some extremely “good as hell” comedy? This Labour Weekend, the Kensington Fun House are bringing together award-winning Kiwi stand-up comedians who will provide a belly full of laughs! Comical geniuses such as Matthew Fleet, Angel Jordan and Josiah Day will be there on the night travelling all the way from Auckland. Round up the gang, grab your tickets and head out to the Kensington Fun House on October 26 for an evening of giggles and a cheeky beverage or two. (R18 only)
The Walking Dead your favourite show? Halloween your jam? Get ready for the epic Festival of the (Un)dead in Christchurch – a thrill-filled Halloween festival. Zombies and ghouls are set to fester on a mix of music, dance, circus and performances. Keen to brave the undead? Come and join the fun this Labour Weekend on 25-28 October at various events around the city – only if you dare!
Christchurch’s Big Band Festival is back and filled with massive big band performances around town – plenty of chances for a boogie over the long weekend! Rub shoulders with international guests at workshops, chill at a picnic or watch performances at the Monster Ball from the Festival of the (Un)Dead! Support local talent and get jazzed up at this year’s festival from 24-28 October.
Little Andromeda 2019
Little Andromeda is back for a jam-packed 2019 season, which kicked off 6 October and runs until 30 November. Over 9 epic weeks with more than 100 performances and events, it leaves you no excuse to be bored this spring. Tickets no more than $20.
