The highlight of New Zealand's racing, fashion and agricultural calendar takes centre stage in Christchurch between 7 and 14 November 2015.
Christchurch City Council Acting Community Arts and Events Unit Manager Richard Attwood says New Zealand Cup and Show Week creates a truly electric atmosphere in the city and each year the programme gets bigger and better.
"Now is the time to get your friends together and start planning your week. It pays to be organised and get in early for your tickets to the events," Mr Attwood says.
The Sothys New Zealand 2000 Guineas Day at Riccarton Park Racecourse marks the official start of the week and promises to give punters and revellers a taste of what lies ahead.
"The festival is about celebrating the thrill of a win, enjoying a day out with friends, experiencing rural life at the Canterbury A&P Show, dressing to the nines, tasting our region’s excellent food and wine, and simply coming together as a community to have some fun".Christchurch City Council Acting Community Arts & Events Unit Manager Richard Attwood
Performing live during the festival are two legendary New Zealand bands. Salmonella Dub will entertain race goers with their distinctive sound on the Lindauer Roof during the Christchurch Casino NZ Trotting Cup Day at Addington Raceway and the feelers will be crooning to the crowd on the Village Green at the Canterbury A&P Show.
A new event this year is Le Noir. Described as the ultimate circus extravaganza, it is a unique theatrical experience featuring more than 20 of the greatest acrobatic and specialty acts on earth, including the heart-stopping Colombian Wheel of Death.
