Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism (CCT) is hosting an InstaMeet event, where photographers who use social media sharing platform Instagram gather to learn new skills and take photos of the area, alongside a line-up of some of the best instagrammers in the business.

The free to the public event will be held on Saturday 17 October in Kaikoura, and will include a question and answer session with the photographers, followed by a photoshoot at sunset.

Professional Instagrammers Lauren Bath, Jarrad Seng, Craig Parry and Jewels Lynch from Australia will be attending the meet, along with New Zealand based Young Adventuress, Bare Kiwi and the Stoked for the Saturday team. Collectively, the group have more than 1,000,000 followers over their social channels.

Participants will be invited to upload images captured during the event to Instagram with the hashtag #KaikouraNZ, creating a collated snapshot of the coastal area.

CCT General Manager Marketing, Rowan Worner says the eco-tourism haven is the perfect location for capturing incredible photos and video with the variety of marine and birdlife along its dramatic coastline.

“We are excited to be bringing this high-profile event to such an amazing location, and we are encouraging all keen locals and visitors to join us for the InstaMeet,”

“A number of tourism operators are offering special rates for activities as well as accommodation deals, so visiting photographers can make the most of their time and explore all the region has to offer.“

CCT is giving one budding photographer the chance to win an experience and accommodation package for the upcoming InstaMeet on Saturday.

Using their photography skills, the winner must upload their Canterbury photo to Instagram with the hashtag #CanterburyNZ.

The winner will get to choose either a Whale Watch Kaikoura, Wings over Whales, or Seal Swim Kaikoura experience, and one night’s accommodation at The White Morph.  Photos need to uploaded to Instagram by 11.55pm on Sunday 11 October to be in the draw.
