22 January 2016

For the 14th year, TripAdvisor has highlighted the world’s top properties based on the millions of reviews and opinions collected in a single year from travellers around the globe. Winners were identified in the categories of Top Hotels, Bargain, B&Bs and Inns, Luxury, Service and Small Hotels. The hallmarks of Travellers’ Choice winners are remarkable service, quality and value.

“This is a terrific endorsement for Heritage Christchurch. Guests respond so favourably to our elegant century year old building. They also comment on the convenience of the in-room facilities of our spacious suites and the bonus of a health club and swimming pool on-site,” says Ana Vivas resident manager of Heritage Christchurch.

Heritage Christchurch is one of only 25 properties nationwide to make the award list. Set in the 102-year-old Old Government Building (OGB) on Cathedral Square, Heritage Christchurch has been in hot demand for leisure guests and business travellers since its 2013 re-opening, whilst hundreds of locals have flocked through on Heritage Festival Open Days.

The Old Government Building was designed by renowned architect Joseph Clarkson Maddison in a grandiose Italian Renaissance Palazzo style and is recognised as of ‘monumental’ importance to the city.

The Heritage Christchurch was awarded the Christchurch Heritage Trust Built Heritage Award in 2010, the New Zealand Seismic Award 2012 and received a highly commended in the Canterbury Heritage Awards 2014.
