Christchurch's latest entertainment venue, Mashina Lounge is on target to open mid-October 2013

3 September 2013

Mashina (Russian for Car or Machine), takes its inspiration from its origins as a basement car park beneath Christchurch Casino. With a new entrance off Peterborough Street, Mashina embraces its industrial origins however, it is anything but austere. Boasting formidable new production and service kitchens with leading edge lighting and sound design, Mashina is guaranteed to satisfy even the most seasoned clubber.

With 500m2 of flexible floor space, Mashina can cater for up to 450 people in either an informal bar environment or theatre style for a concert or presentation. It is also an ideal banqueting venue which can seat over 300 guests with a stage and dance floor. Guests can relax in the deep button leather sofas, find a secluded spot in a booth or position themselves at a leaner in the middle of the action by the generous 40m2 dance floor.

Mashina's impressive 10m long bar has a vodka focus and a wide range of local favourites along with some unique offerings from Eastern Europe. For beer lovers, Tiger leads an impressive tap selection and craft beer lovers won't be disappointed by the choices available. Black Dog Brewery is among the boutique breweries that will provide a crafty alternative for the draft beer drinkers.

Food lovers are well serviced through a selection of small plate options, slow cooked meat platters and Christchurch's first metre long pizza. These are all complimented by a vast range of sweet treats produced on site by our experienced pastry team. Mashina will initially operate Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm until 3am and will provide a variety of entertainment. There will be popular mainstream bands and DJ's through to stand-up comedy, country and jazz music along with an array of other entertainment options and events planned.

As an R20 venue Mashina is unashamedly targeting a 25 year old plus market, looking for a premium environment that delivers quality entertainment. Mashina will embrace leading security technology and will work with other venues to ensure the areas reputation as a safe late night precinct. Currently being considered are multi-venue exclusions in Victoria Street for those seeking to disrupt others enjoyment.

Mashina promises to fill the void left in Christchurch by the 2011 earthquakes. Rather than a temporary venue parked on a vacant site, considerable effort has gone into producing a venue capable of delivering the top quality entertainment venue that Christchurch deserves.
