Christchurch is fondly renowned for its gardens, with the Christchurch Botanic Gardens sitting proudly in the heart of the city. Lynda Burns chats to us about her love for the central city and how she likes to spend her spare time.

How long have you worked/operated in the central city? Where?

I have worked for 10 years at the Christchurch Botanic Gardens and central city parks.

What is your go-to lunch spot?

Zen Sushi & Dumplings in Arts Centre.

Where in the city do you live?

St Martins.

Tell us what your ideal day out in the city looks like?

Walking from the Antigua Boatsheds to the Margaret Mahy playground, enjoying something to eat along The Terrace then a drink at OGB before walking back.

What is your best kept central-city secret?

The stories about the city's history.

What sets Christchurch central city apart from other places in the city? Or other cities in New Zealand?  

Has to be the City Promenade and the Avon River.

What is your favourite central city spot during winter?

Enjoying a drink at OGB and then a visit to Tūranga.

Can you sum up the central city up in one word?

Developing

What would you say to someone who says there is nothing to do in the central city?

I'd say they can't have been in recently! Take a walk along the promenade and visit Tūranga - see how vibrant the city is becoming!

...there is a great mix of walking, people watching, food and new things to see and do.
