What’s on this weekend

The school holidays are over, the weather is cooling down (or is it?), and weekends are more precious than ever.

With Valentine’s Day done and dusted, and the work week finished, it’s time to plan your days off, you weekend warrior.

Ōtautahi Christchurch has a bunch on offer in terms of activities, sporting occasions and festivals to get excited about. Here are our best suggestions:

Our national hockey teams take on the world once again at Ngā Puna Wai after a win and a loss against Great Britain on February 8. Taking place at our new sporting hub Ngā Puna Wai, expect boisterous crowds and a sporting festival atmosphere. Tickets available here.

Surely, you’ve smelt the satay smoke wafting from this event already. Track it down at North Hagley Park to discover a foodie heaven. From barbecued meats to vegetarian noodles and fried chicken burgers, this is the eating destination of the weekend. On until Sunday 17 February, from 4pm until 10pm each day, entry is free.

National Fastpitch Championships

Saturday 16 February

BLACKCAPS vs. Bangladesh ODI

With the ICC Cricket World Cup only months away, the importance of these one-day-internationals cannot be overstated.
