They say breakfast is the most important meal of the day! Fuel up, at these great inner-city breakfast spots.


If we are talking about breakfast we can't go past Miro. The breakfast board is a must, packed full of Le Panier croissants, granola, fruit, Raglan coconut yoghurt and a dippy egg with soldiers. Combine this with a special breakfast cocktail and you're sorted for the day!


Overlooking the Avon River and the Bridge of Remembrance, Amazonita is the ideal spot for a sunny Sunday breakfast. Be sure to try the 'Veg Brekkie' - poached egg, broccolini, halloumi, dukkah, avocado and ciabatta, yum!

Caffeine Laboratory

Colourful New Regent Street is home to the Caffeine Lab. One of our favourites from the breakfast menu is the French toast. Picture vanilla cream soaked brioche, with cinnamon spiced apples, crumble, vanilla bean mascarpone and almond praline - delicious!

C1 Espresso

Craving a healthy breakfast? Then the Bircher Muesli from C1 is for you. The mix of fruit, linseed, amaranth, chia seeds, coconut milk and yoghurt will start your day in the right way. C1 Espresso is always buzzing, make sure you get in early to get a table.

Unknown Chapter

The smell of freshly roasted coffee will draw you into Unknown Chapter. You know this place is good, as it's always busy. The breakfast menu is comprehensive, however we can't go past the eggs benedict with hot smoked Akaroa Salmon.


Located in the historic Arts Centre, Bunsen has a spacious outside area where you can sit back, relax and watch the world go by. Our 'go to' breakfast favourite is the 'Smash It' - a delicious avocado and edamame bean smash. If you're time poor or are after something 'on the go' then it's the place to drop in for a coffee and a Pain au chocolat.

Uncommon Cafe

Pitched as discovering a slice of the Melbourne cafe scene in the heart of Christchurch, Uncommon Cafe needs to be on the list for the discerning breakfast goer. The tailored menu showcases the best in seasonal and local produce. One of our favourites are the poached eggs sous vide at 63°C for 45 minutes - perfection!
