Upstairs in the Boys’ High School building at the Arts Centre, Shopology is a champion of local goods. Sarah Gamble and Sally Paterson have curated a fine mix for your perusing and gifting needs. We caught up with Sarah and Sally to find out why they love operating in the city centre.
How long have you worked/operated in the central city?
We’ve been open for 20 months in the Arts Centre.
Are you doing anything this winter to attract more business?
Yes, social media giveaways, in-store promotions, free scones using local jam we sell, and other events. Come in to check out what we’re up to!
What is your go-to lunch spot?
Zen dumplings just across the courtyard. Yum!
Tell us what your ideal day out in the city looks like?
A walk or a bike through Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens, through to a cafe in the city for a good coffee.
What is your best kept central-city secret?
Our shop of course - Shopology!
What sets Christchurch central city apart from other places in the city?
The natural beauty of the inner city – the river and the beautiful bridges that cross it, the trees and parks.
What is your favourite central city spot during winter?
It will be Lumiere Cinema here at the Arts Centre, when it opens shortly!

What would you say to someone who says there is nothing to do in the central city?
Open your eyes, put on your walking shoes and explore. Grab something to eat at one of the great new restaurants, sit by the river and enjoy the natural beauty surrounded by the sparkling new buildings!
