Transport

There will be a whole host of special transport options available during Rugby World Cup 2011, to make sure that visitors and locals alike can easily get around the city and to and from the games.

Christchurch International Airport is the country's second largest international airport, and is currently undergoing a $195 million expansion including a new terminal and car parking facilities.  It is easily accessed via a 15-20 minute drive from the centre of the city.

The city's railway station is 10 minutes from the central city and offers scenic passenger journeys between Christchurch and Greymouth on the West Coast, as well as between Christchurch and Picton (the stepping off point for ferry trips across to Wellington).

There are also regular bus transport links throughout the South Island.

Christchurch and Canterbury Tourism has all details on transport options around the South Island.

More transport details, will be available closer to the time.
