Pegasus attracts big events
Stand up paddle boarding at Pegasus
Pegasus town, just 30 minutes north of Christchurch, is to host
the More FM Summer Vineyard Tour with a stellar line-up on the
beautiful shores of Lake Pegasus on 10 February.
The tour will see popular Australian roots act and NZ favourites
John Butler Trio co-headline alongside hot-right-now funky soul
singer Aloe Blacc and The Grand Scheme. Kiwi pop-songstress Annabel
Fay also joins the line-up off the back of a stint in the US. Jenny
Lake, Pegasus Business Development Manager jumped at the
opportunity to host such an exciting event. "Pegasus is continuing
to prove itself as a first-class venue for events. Having these
international acts perform at Pegasus is really exciting for us."
Other events in recent months have included a fun run with 4,000
participants and supporters.
The event raised at least $12,000 to go towards the post-quake
recovery of sport in Canterbury. Pegasus Golf Club will host the
New Zealand Women's Golf Open again in February 2012.
Pegasus is also proving a great place for corporate
team-building, meetings and relaxation. The covered driving range
right beside the Clubhouse is ideal, with a marquee beside for
larger events. Pegasus Lake is also home to Optimist and Piccolo
yachts, single and double kayaks, and mountain bikes, which are all
available for hire.
Stand up paddle boarding (or SUP) is the hottest new sport in
town and a fabulous team-building, says Jenny Lake. It builds great
core strength, helps balance and improves general fitness. The
relay races prove particularly popular. Christchurch Paddle
boarding is offering Learn to SUP and fitness sessions on Lake
Pegasus. Boards, wetsuits and paddle provided.
