Copthorne Hotel Commodore expansion catering for growth
Copthorne Hotel Commodore
Work has begun on a new four-storey Eco wing at the Copthorne
Hotel Commodore Christchurch Airport, due to be completed in late
2012.
Features of the new rooms will be an energy efficient building
management system with natural building materials chosen where
possible. The building will incorporate another glass lift that
will service the upstairs conference rooms. Two new suites feature
separate lounge areas, and all rooms will face the Southern Alps
with breathtaking views.
As well this year Copthorne Hotel Commodore has added a new
Discovery Lounge. The private area is an ideal space for casual
meetings and gives lounge guests a quieter space to work or for
informal meetings. The Discovery Lounge features a 50-inch high
definition plasma screen with Skype camera for private web
conferences, and a surround sound system and wireless internet
access making it an ideal place to meet and entertain. The room is
themed with images of the Discovery shuttle crew who stayed at the
Commodore earlier in the year.
And 2011 has been a vintage year for awards for the Commodore
gardens. After taking out the Hotel sections and being judged "best
garden all classes" for both the Christchurch Beautifying
Association and the Canterbury Horticultural Society this
spring.
