Mona Vale Restaurant and Function Venue

Mona Vale Homestead epitomises the English charm for which Christchurch is renowned, with its picture-book river setting, historic homestead and 5.5 hectares of beautifully landscaped gardens and lawns. Built as a private home at the turn of the 19th century, the Gardens are now tendered by the City Council and the Homestead is managed by event catering company Continental. The combination of excellent service and proximity to both the CBD and airport, yet located in stunning natural surroundings means this charming venue is a popular choice for that special event be it cocktails, a gala dinner, planning meetings, product launches or lunch en route. The architectural splendour of the Homestead and the elegance of the gardens mean that this venue is particularly suited to themes such as The Great Gadsby, Murder Mystery Dinners, mid-winter Christmas celebrations, twilight cocktails with jazz on the balcony or a Victorian garden party complete with hampers and punting.

Directions

FROM CENTRE OF TOWN BY CAR: Head north from Cathedral Square up Colombo Street and turn left into Bealey Avenue. Pass through four sets of traffic lights (and by now the road has become Harper Avenue). At the next set of lights turn right into Fendalton Road. Stay in the left lane and turn into Mona Vale Gardens just before another set of lights at a railway crossing. The driveway will take you through the stunning gardens (wath out for pedetrians and ducks - max 20km p/h), past the Homestead into the (free) on-site carpark. FROM Chch International or Domestic AIRPORT: From the Airport take Memorial Avenue through five sets of traffic lights. The road has now become Fendalton Road. Go through four more sets of lights, the last being over a railway line. You will now see Mona Vale Gardens' entrance signposted on the right. Proceed past the entroance some 20metres until coming to a turning lane and a break in the median barrier. Double back and through the gates into the gardens. ON FOOT OR BIKE FROM CITY: Follow paths through Hagley Park to the north eastern-most corner. Leave the park and use the traffic lights crossing to cross the intersection of Harper and Deans Avenues and Fendalton Road. Continue down Fendalton Road around 300m until coming to a public access footpath on the left which takes you into Mona Vale Gardens (river and weir will be on your right).
