The Canterbury Club

The Canterbury Club was established in 1872 by a group of Christchurch gentlemen.

During 2008 and 2009 the Canterbury Club has undergone a $5.5 million refit which has introduced a health and fitness centre, conference facilities, contemporary cafe and bar and international standard accommodation.

Whilst it now offers modern and contemporary facilities, it maintains its fantastic heritage with preservation of many features of yesteryear, including a hitching post and sole surviving gas lamp. To undertake the refurbishment, a high level of consultation with the Historic Places Trust and Christchurch City Council was undertaken to ensure that none of the heritage features were compromised.

The Canterbury Club has affiliate Clubs around the world and offers a very sophisticated and traditional environment for high end functions and corporate hosting.
